Department of Zoology, Anand Niketan College Conducts Educational Tour to Gorewada Zoo and RTMNU

Warora, Sept. 19: The Department of Zoology at Anand Niketan College, Anandwan, organized a one-day educational tour for its students to Balasaheb Thackeray Zoological Park, Gorewada, Nagpur. The tour was part of the students’ curriculum, aimed at providing practical exposure to wildlife and conservation.

During the visit, students observed a variety of wild animals and birds in their naturalistic enclosures, learning about their behavior, habitat, and ecological significance. The hands-on experience helped strengthen classroom knowledge and enhanced students’ understanding of biodiversity and wildlife conservation.

On the return journey, the students visited the Post Graduate Teaching Department of Zoology at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). They explored the department museum and gained practical knowledge about vermiculture techniques. The visit was guided and supported by Dr. Varsha Dhurve, Head of the Department.

The tour was successfully organized under the guidance of Dr. R.R. Kamdi, Dr. Sanyogita Verma, Prof. Hemant Parchake, and Prof. Tilak Dhoble, with valuable assistance from non-teaching staff Shri Bhushan Suryavanshi. The event was further supported by Principal Dr. Mrunal Kale.

The Department of Zoology is very active in conducting such educational initiatives, which help enrich students’ academic knowledge while fostering awareness and interest in wildlife research and conservation.
